Today, explore the captivating city of Mysore, long the seat of the Wodeyar maharajas. Your morning tour begins at the vibrant Deveraja Market, a feast for the senses with its piles of spices, flowers, and produce. You will then visit the Gothic St. Philomena’s Cathedral and the Jaganmohan Palace Art Gallery.
The undisputed highlight is the magnificent Mysore Palace. As you explore its opulent halls, courtyards, and ceremonial rooms, you’ll understand why it’s one of India’s most spectacular royal residences.
The afternoon is yours for a leisurely (self-guided) walking tour of the city or to relax at your hotel.

After a leisurely breakfast, begin the picturesque drive (approximately 5 hours) into the Nilgiri Hills, or “Blue Mountains.” Your destination is Ooty (Udhagamandalam), a beloved hill station founded by the British. Check into your hotel upon arrival and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure, breathing in the cool, fragrant mountain air.

A delightful day awaits. After breakfast, proceed to the charming Ooty Railway Station for a joy ride on the UNESCO World Heritage Nilgiri Mountain Railway ‘Toy Train’ to Coonoor. This slow, scenic journey offers breathtaking views of the valleys, tunnels, and tea plantations.
In the afternoon, explore the highlights of Ooty. Visit a working tea estate to learn about the art of tea plucking and processing, followed by a tasting session. Later, drive to Doddabetta Peak, the highest point in the Nilgiris, for panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

We are not seasoned international travellers. It took several days to feel comfortable in the tour due to the invasion of all our senses in Delhi and the Golden Triangle, but as we moved to the South, our comfort level increased significantly, and we began to really enjoy the tour, and we immersed ourselves in all activities. The hill country on Kerala is simply gorgeous and the people were gentle. Overall, thanks for an amazing tour, David.
