Welcome to the enchanting state of Kerala! Upon your arrival at Cochin International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative and privately escorted to your hotel. Cochin, a historic port city, has been a cultural crossroads for centuries. Its blend of Indian, Portuguese, Dutch, and British influences is visible at every turn, earning it the name “Queen of the Arabian Sea.” The rest of your day is at leisure to unwind. Overnight at Casino Hotel (or similar).
This morning, embark on a guided tour of Cochin’s fascinating history. You will visit the iconic Chinese Fishing Nets, a legacy of 14th-century traders, and explore the historic Fort Kochi area. Your tour includes the Mattancherry Palace (also known as the Dutch Palace) with its exquisite murals, the ancient St. Francis Church, and the bustling, spice-scented lanes of Jew Town.
In the evening, prepare for a cultural spectacle. You will witness a traditional Kathakali dance performance, a classical art form where storytellers use elaborate costumes, breathtaking makeup, and precise gestures to bring ancient Hindu epics to life. Overnight at Casino Hotel (or similar). (Breakfast)
After breakfast, begin your scenic drive (approximately 4-5 hours) into the Western Ghats. Watch as the landscape transforms from coastal plains to the lush, rolling hills of Munnar, a former British colonial resort.
Situated at 6,000 feet, Munnar is a breathtakingly beautiful haven of peace and tranquillity. You’ll be greeted by an unending expanse of emerald-green tea plantations, pristine valleys, and misty mountains. Check into your hotel and settle in. Later, experience the source of this region’s beauty firsthand with a visit to a tea plantation. Learn about the art of tea processing and enjoy a walk through the fragrant, manicured bushes. Overnight at Abad Copper Castle (or similar). (Breakfast)
After breakfast, descend from the highlands towards the coast on a drive to Alleppey (approximately 4-5 hours). Here, you will board your private, traditionally-styled Kettuvallam houseboat—your home for the night.
Step into a world of serene beauty as you begin a leisurely cruise through the famous Kerala Backwaters. This vast network of lagoons, lakes, and palm-fringed canals offers a glimpse into a timeless way of life. Watch villagers fishing, children waving from the banks, and farmers tending their paddy fields. Your meals, prepared with fresh local ingredients by the onboard chef, will be served as you drift through this mesmerising aquatic landscape. Overnight onboard your Deluxe Houseboat. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Wake up to the gentle sounds of the water and enjoy a final breakfast on your houseboat. After disembarking, you will be driven to Cochin International Airport (approximately 1-1.5 hours) for your onward flight, carrying with you the profound peace of Kerala. (Breakfast)

We are not seasoned international travellers. It took several days to feel comfortable in the tour due to the invasion of all our senses in Delhi and the Golden Triangle, but as we moved to the South, our comfort level increased significantly, and we began to really enjoy the tour, and we immersed ourselves in all activities. The hill country on Kerala is simply gorgeous and the people were gentle. Overall, thanks for an amazing tour, David.
