Upon your arrival at Bagdogra Airport, you will be greeted by our representative. From here, begin your scenic ascent into the mountains on the drive to Gangtok (approximately 4-5 hours), the charming capital of Sikkim.
Important Travel Note: Please ensure you have two Indian-sized passport photographs ready for the required Inner Line Permit to enter Sikkim.
Check into your hotel upon arrival, with the rest of the day at leisure to enjoy the cool, fresh mountain air.
Overnight at Summit Golden Crescent, Gangtok (or similar).
Rise before dawn for a memorable excursion to Tiger Hill. On a clear day, you will be rewarded with a spectacular sunrise over the world’s highest peaks, including the majestic Kanchenjunga. Return to your hotel for a hearty breakfast.
Later, embark on a comprehensive tour of Darjeeling. Your exploration includes:
The Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Centre (closed Sunday) to appreciate beautiful handicrafts and learn about Tibetan culture.
The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park and Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (closed Thursday), a tribute to the region’s mountaineering legacy.
Iconic local landmarks like Tenzing Rock and Gombu Rock.
A visit to a peaceful Buddhist monastery and the picturesque Batasia Loop, a remarkable feat of railway engineering.
A stop at a sprawling tea estate to learn about the cultivation of the world’s most famous tea.
The day culminates with a delightful joy ride on the UNESCO World Heritage Darjeeling Himalayan Railway ‘Toy Train’ from Darjeeling to Ghoom (subject to operational availability), a quintessential Darjeeling experience.

Today is entirely yours to enjoy at your own pace. You may wish to explore the vibrant local markets on Chowk Bazaar, visit the Happy Valley Tea Estate for a tour, relax with a book and a cup of famous Darjeeling tea, or simply wander the charming, steep lanes of this historic hill station. (Please note: transport and guide services are not included today).

After a final breakfast with a mountain view, begin your descent from the hills to Bagdogra Airport (approximately 2-3 hours) for your onward flight.

We are not seasoned international travellers. It took several days to feel comfortable in the tour due to the invasion of all our senses in Delhi and the Golden Triangle, but as we moved to the South, our comfort level increased significantly, and we began to really enjoy the tour, and we immersed ourselves in all activities. The hill country on Kerala is simply gorgeous and the people were gentle. Overall, thanks for an amazing tour, David.
